The Blasters Cricket program at Moorebank Cricket Club is designed especially for our youngest cricket enthusiasts, providing a welcoming introduction to the sport in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. Whether your child is picking up a bat for the first time or eager to play their first team matches, the Blaster program is the perfect launchpad for a lifelong love of cricket for children aged 5 – 9. (older children can play in the blasters program if they do not have the skill set and confidence to play in the junior competition.)

Blaster Training Sessions

Our training sessions are the heart of the Blaster experience. Led by passionate and supportive coaches from Cricket NSW, these weekly sessions focus on skill development, fun activities, and building confidence on and off the field.

• Skill Development: Players learn the cricket basics—batting, bowling, fielding, and teamwork—through exciting drills and creative games tailored to every skill level.
• Active, Inclusive Environment: Every child is encouraged to have a go, try new skills, and celebrate their progress, regardless of experience.
• Supportive Coaches: Our friendly coaches create a positive atmosphere, prioritising participation, encouragement, and safety for all players.
• Structured but Flexible: Sessions are organised but adaptable, ensuring that every player feels included and has the opportunity to thrive.
• Fun Above All: From obstacle courses to catching challenges, every training session is packed with laughter, movement, and high-fives.

Modified Games on Saturdays

Saturday mornings mean game day! Our Blaster teams take to the field for fun, fast-paced matches that put their skills into action. Moorebank Cricket Club have both U7 and U9 teams!

• Modified Format: Games are played with soft balls, smaller boundaries, and fewer players per team—making it safe, fast, and accessible to everyone.
• Everyone Gets a Go: Every child bats, bowls, and fields in every match, ensuring maximum participation and enjoyment. If the player gets “out” they can keep on batting until their turn is finished – allowing all players to have an equal opportunity.
• Short and Sweet: Matches are kept short and lively, ensuring kids stay engaged and parents can enjoy a relaxed Saturday morning atmosphere.
• Learning Through Play: The focus is on learning the game, making friends, and building confidence—not the scoreboard.
• Limited Equipment: Players do NOT need helmets or pads at this age as the ball is softer. All equipment that your child needs is supplied in the team kit!
• Family Friendly: Parents and families are encouraged to cheer from the side-lines, get involved, and share in the excitement of grassroots cricket.
